New IMS system launched at Eastern Railways

The Eastern Railways (annual turnover of INR 4055.42 crore / US$ 1013.86 million and employing 130,000 staff) has succesfully launched the Information management system at the DGM(G)'s office. The solution was designed and developed by Westgate and is a key step by the Eastern Railway to introduce E-govenance into its daily work. The project is key to westgate in strengthing our relationship with the Eastern railways.
The pilot solution is unique to the railways as it allows DGM(G) to monitor and track RTI applications, Public grievance cases, PCDO and MCDO reports and other information that are required by the Railways on a day to day basis.
The software was inaugurated by Mr.Deepak Krishan, General Manager of Eastern railways and Mr. Rajesh Prasad, IRSE , DGM(G) of Eastern railways at a high profile lauch on the 17th of September 2009.
Westgate was choosen to develop the application because of their experience in the e-governence sector and proven ability to deliver critical solutions in record time. Westgate was involved in requirement analysis, design, development, deployment and training for the application. Westgate is further working the Eastern railways to deliver more far reaching solutions on different departments.
The Eastern Railway(ER) is one of the 16 zones of the Indian Railways. Its headquarters is at Fairley Place, Kolkata and it comprises four divisions: Howrah, Malda, Sealdah, and Asansol. The name of the divisions denotes the name of the city where the divisional headquarters is located.This railway zone has three major workshops: Jamalpur, Liluah and Kanchrapara. The Jamalpur workshop is for wagon repair, periodic overhaul (POH) of diesel locomotives, manufacturing of cranes and tower-wagons, the Liluah workshop is for POH of coaching & freight vehicles and the Kanchrapara workshop is for POH of electric locomotives, EMU Locals and coaches. The East Indian Railway (EIR) Company was incorporated in 1845 to connect East India with Delhi.
